Your English-speaking Egyptologist guide will pick you up at Alexandria port. Then, you will drive to Cairo, about 3 hours from Alexandria, to see the Giza Plateau, which is home to Egypt's most famous attractions. You can decide how long you spend at each site with your Egyptologist guide. Your Egyptologist guide will give you a fascinating introduction about each pyramid: Cheops Khafre, Menakaure. Your guide will not be allowed to accompany you to any pyramid. You can also go on a camel ride (optional) for an additional fee. You will then continue to the plateau to take photos of the pyramids rising from sands with the Cairo skyline as background. You will find yourself at the feet the Sphinx, the mysterious symbol of Egypt for thousands of years. You can also visit the Solar Boat Museum in Giza (optional cost). This museum houses the impressively preserved funerary boat Khufu. The next stop is Sakkara, Egypt's oldest and most ancient cemetery. The Step Pyramid of King Zoser, the world's oldest known monumental stone structure by Imhotep, will be visited. You will visit one of the stunning Mastabas (burial rooms) of Ptahhotep, Idut, or Mereruca. You will visit a Papyrus Institute to learn more about papyrus paper and purchase authentic items. You will then be taken back to Alexandria Port by your cruise ship driver after your tour is over. The tour takes between 11-12 hours.
